ONS Web Site Hacked – Security Breach Addressed
August 17, 2016
The ONS web site was recently victimized by hackers. A number of hyperlinks were sprinkled liberally throughout the site – very few of our pages were spared. These links take the unsuspecting user to sites that have no connection with ONS and which offer online sales of pharmaceuticals. We have moved quickly to respond to this intrusion and unauthorized alteration of ONS content.
ONS has upgraded our web site security with the expectation that further hacks will be blocked. We have also conducted a careful review and edit of all ONS content in order to remove the hyperlinks inserted by the intruders. We hope we have found and removed them all, but if you – the user – find one that we missed please contact us with a link to the affected page and we will correct the content immediately. We apologize for any inconvenience or offence.
Thank you for your patience and understanding and for your continuing support for the Ottawa Neighbourhood Study.
